Subject: Help me please

Written By: 80-s_freak on 02/25/04 at 07:42 p.m.

As some of ya'll might know, I have an 80's tribute band. We're up to 18 songs now and the set list is still growing. The problem we have is we just got a female singer to compleat the line up. We have been working mostly on male songs. Now we need some female songs to balance it out. I'm having a hard time comming up with female songs that aren't synth based. If you think of some, please post.
    Thanks

Here's some non-synth songs from female artists:

Madonna "Express Yourself"
Pat Benatar "Love Is A Battlefield"
The Bangles "Manic Monday"
Joan Jett & The Blackhearts "I Love Rock N' Roll"
Janet Jackson "What Have You Done For Me Lately"

How about Lita Ford or Allanah Myles?

 How about Kate Bush
or Cocteau Twins? Your singer only has to be good at remembering almost gibberish for those CT songs.
  Good luck to you.

Why do they have to be "female" songs?  In the 80s androgyny was the name of the game, from early 80s new wave bands to late 80s hair metal ones.  So your band's female singer could cover anything from Duran Duran to Guns N Roses and still look/sound like the original "guy" who sang it!
