Subject: Favorite Floppy Disk Computer Games

What computer games do you remember playing that came on floppy disk?  I remember playing computer games in school and there is one in particular that I can't find information about anywhere.  I believe the name of the game was called Fleener's.  The concept of the game was that you were going to the mall to buy someone a present except you got locked in the mall as it closed for the night.  You were supposed to hunt around in the different stores unless you wound up in a store with a robot and then you got tossed out.  The robots were strange looking.  One had a giant ear.

I also remember playing Oregon Trail and Lode Runner.

Oh yeah, had "Lode Runner" for the Apple ][.  :)

Also liked "Frogger", "NORAD" (a Wargames type game), "Seawolf" (the submarine that travelled thru caverns avoiding mines and enemy subs), "Q-Bert", "DigDug", and a whole bunch of others I can't think of at this time (i'm doing this in class during an extremely b-o-o-ring lecture--god I hate power point!   :P :P).

The only one I remember playing in school was Oregon Trail...and I absolutly loved it.  I want to get the newer one for my son when he gets a little bit older.

That mall one sounds fun. :)

I had Commodore 64 also and a bit over 300 games. Favorites? many, but the oldiest are always most memorable. Frak64, Winter Games, Rambo, Gauntlet....
First I had cassette recorder, but in 86 I got floppy disk driver(1541).

My two favorite two were Summer Games and Winter Games for the C64. I had a pretty large joystick that you had to whack back and forth in order to get your guys to run or skate.

I had the SX64 that had the monitor in it and was supposed to be portable.  Yeah right!  That thing weighed a ton.  I like Winter, Summer, and World Games.  Also played a lot of Test Drive and Kickstart.

Barbie....I think it was just called Barbie. You dressed her for her date with Ken. It was awesome.

I remember that game well.  I bought a copy of it for my daughter.  I had a C=64, and she loved playing that game.  Something about dressing up Barbie in inappropriate clothes (like a bikini for the prom) she found very enjoyable.  :)

Although my all time favorite "old school" game has to be M*U*L*E.  This was for 1-4 people, and it was both competative and cooporative.  You had to make a successful colony.  Hording supplies and being to cut-throat would hurt the colony, and then nobody would win.

This game was ported to the original Nintendo system, and I remember playing it for years.  I wish Electronic Art's would make an update to this game.

Of course, the Bard's Tale series was also awesome.  I lost count of the number of months I spent on these games.  It was like Wizardry but without all those funny spell names to memorize.  :P

I think I will post some of my favorite "old school" games here.  These are ones I did not list in my earlier post.  How many can you remember?

Alkabeth
Ultima (the original for the Apple)
Temple Of Asphi
Phantasy
Mail Order Monsters
Crush, Crumble, and Chomp!
Telengard
Sim City (remember that aweful RED security page?)
Leisure Suit Larry (and the text version, SoftPorn for Apple)
Ballance Of Power
Civilization
Covert Action (I *still* play this game)
Ancient Art Of War
Empire
Star Fleet I and II
Knight Orc
GEOS (OK, not a game, but anybody that could multi-task a Commodore 64 or Apple II is impressive, why can't Microsoft do the same with less requirements?)
Star Command
Starflight I and II
Lemmings
Universal Military Simulator

A lot of these games are now available as "Abandonware".  This is where either the company is no longer in business, or in some other way the game has become Public Domain.  If you want to check some of them out, check out this site:
http://www.the-underdogs.org/

The only bad thing about this site is all the pop-ups and spyware that tries to install.  Just use a pop-up blocker and ignore anything that tries to come to you except the games you want.  ALso, check out their "Hall Of Fame" for classic games.

When we had windows 3.1 back in like..94 we had chip and dale rescue rangers, we had frogger, Hugo III and some other ones. We didnt get a computer until then ebcause they were so expensive. Now practicly everyones got one and they are alot better than they used to be.
