Subject: Where is Molly Ringwald!??

Written By: Mona Lisa Kyle on 03/14/04 at 03:49 p.m.

I LOVED Molly Ringwald in the 1980's movies she was in. I identified with her completely as did a lot of other girls back then. I think she was/is a great actress. I can still remember watching Pretty In Pink for the first time and repeatedly thinking "oh God That is SO me!". I heard she became disillusioned and moved to Paris or something. I think that sucks! She should do something new. If we could identify with her at age 16 then there is no reason we couldn't identify with her now as well! I think given the right script she could come back as big as she was in the 80's. Does anyone know what she is doing now?

Molly Ringwald made some bad career choices, plus I think her mom was a bit too controlling of her career.  Teen stars were big back then, but they were nowhear near as big as they are now.  Even as recently as 1995 and 1996 teen stars were not as big as they are now.  I mean you didn't see Alicia Silverstone on every magazine back in the mid 90's did you?

Starting in the late 90's, teen stars sort took over, and they became bigger then ever.  Today you see teen stars freaking EVERYWHERE.  You open your mail and there's a teen star.  Thus someone like Sarah Michelle Gellar, even though she's as old as 26 or 27, can still have a career playing teenagers and/or move onto adult roles.
