I was watching VH1 Classic last night and saw a commercial where Psychedelic Furs are touring the U.S., just in case anyone cares!   :)

I would love to see the Psy Furs!

I've always been blown away by the 1st 2 tracks on their self-titled debut album, India and Sister Europe, 2 incredibly fantastic songs. It's got to be one of the best debut albums of all time.

Oh yeah, those first PsyFurs records were my first teen-angst records!  I could relate so well to Richard Butler's alienation.  He seemed to speak to me.
I also loved their arty-rock album, "Forever Now," produced by Todd Rundgren, and their synth-pop album, "Mirror Moves," produced by Mr. Disco Keith Forsey.
Their 1986 album "Midnight to Midnight" copied on the dance style a bit, but it turned kind of polystyrene and cliched.  A song one of their last albums DID become a PsyFurs favorite of mine, "Here in My Head."  Richard Butler and Tim Butler have done some good songs as Love Spit Love, but never album's worth.  Their best known song was a cover of The Smiths' "How Soon is Now," which became the theme of "The Craft," both movie and TV show.
I wonder which PsyFurs sound they're going for, post-punk, or synth-pop?
With all the discussion on this board about "Pretty in Pink," I never brought up the question of whether John Hughes understood what the song was about before choosing it for Andie Walsh.  It's a great song, and PsyFurs were a good band for the movie, but the lyrics describe a girl who is far different from Andie!
