Well he seemed to have a quasi-comeback in the mid 90's w/ a couple of dance hit, but nothing really recent. He is a truly talented man.
Of course, he'll probably go more on the producing side or something.

I agree, he's truly talented, though I don't care for his style.  :P He says he's retiring?  I'll bet he'll be back with something a few years down the road.  His life has been music since he was fifteen, it's hard for lifelong successes to give it up.  It may be a smart move to announce retirement because it'll take some pressure off to advance his career always with new and better stuff.  He can become George Michael, Pop Star Emeritus!
:D

I would like to see George do covers of old standards in kind of a Harry Connick Jr. / Frank Sinatra / Tony Bennett style.  Sort of reminiscent of "Kissing A Fool" from the Faith album.  Kids these days don't want to listen to an "old guy" trying to be hip.  People our age don't want to hear him doing anything new.  I will almost guarantee it won't sell.  But, to hear him "crooning" would probably raise a little bit of attention!

I love him!  He's so talented.  Well, I guess every career must come to an end I suppose.   ;D

Just my opinion -

I think his last good effort was his black album of the early 90's, "Listen Without Prejudice".

I admit, I like the campy style of pop Wham produced in the 1980's much more.

Happy retirement, I say! 8)

Sadly George Michael will never be known for his huge catalog of albums. But instead, been the most popular person to put out the least amount of music.

He's put out FAITH, LISTEN W/O PREJUDICE, OLDER & PATIENCE... Four albums?! How has been under pressure to make music? The public has been the ones under pressure to have to wait years between releases.

I don't count FIVE LIVE or SONGS FROM THE LAST CENTURY as bonified albums as one is a live recording of someone else's music and the other is a rather boring collection of music that also had nothing to do with in the writing. He sings them well, but he could sing the phone book well. That doens't mean he should put out "TOPEKA KS 785".

I can only scratch my head and say, "What could have George done if he had just worked a little harder?"

I really enjoyed that album, with "Cowboys and Angels" being one of my favorite Michael songs. I love the jazzy, mello vibe of that tune.

I thought he had retired at one point since he hadn't put out any new material in so long.  Then I found out about the whole problem he had with Sony and that's why.  It's a shame his career was cut short like that.  In spite of what people said about him, I liked his music.

I saw the following on msn.com

" George Michael wants to pay tribute to the Madonna-Britney spit swap by locking lips with Justin Timberlake. "I've already called Justin but unfortunately he hasn't called me back," the former Wham! star tells the London Mirror. Just keep waiting by that phone, George."
