Subject: Songs with fast piano, like "Hold the Line"

Written By: ChuckyG on 04/02/04 at 01:39 p.m.

I'm trying to think of songs that sound like Toto's "Hold the Line" and Jefferson Starship's "Jane"... can anyone think of similar sounding songs?

What about "All For Leyna" by Billy Joel (off the Glass Houses album)?

I love the piano riff in 'Hold the Line' . . .

What kind of fast piano are you after, Chucky? I can recommend lots of ragtime from Scott Joplin if you like (The Entertainer fame).

'Christie Lee' by Billy Joel
'Modern Girl' by Meatloaf
'The Way it is' - Bruce Hornsby and The Range
'Friends' by Amii Stewart

Depending on how fast you really like your piano, I also suggest the songs 'One off the wrists' and 'Runaround' by The Darts.

I never really heard any 80s songs with fast pianos.  The only music I heard with fast pianos was happy hardcore music.

Scott Joplin is a bit old-timey for me... I've just loved the rifts on "Hold the Line" and "Jane" and was trying to think of songs that would be appropriate next to them on a mix cd (though I haven't made one of those in months).

funny I didn't even think of Billy Joel (or for that matter Elton John) when I was thinking of this, since they are both very piano heavy... I'm going to investigate the other songs posted in this thread (that I don't recognize) and see if any are what I'm thinking of...

I love the old Rags Scott Joplin created but I wouldn't put them alongside Hold the Line and Jane either lol.
