Subject: i need ideas for an 80's party

Written By: danellemarie3 on 04/03/04 at 11:10 a.m.

For Study Skills we have to create a party and my partner and I decided on an 80's party so I was wondering if you guys know any good games or food that we could use.  Or even music for that matter.

Thanks

Well, um....let's see....*finger on chin*  Truth or dare and spin the bottle isn't gonna work...lol  How about Kissing Booth....j/k.  I was a kid, so I didn't play too many "adolescent" games.  Food......hmmm....Big Macs?  The 80s always had Big Mac Attacks!  And music.......look at all the 1980s posts and get some ideas, there's tons of 'em! ;D

Chicken McNuggets came out in the 80s as well as many others. check out this part of the boards for more 80s food.

and some Games of the 80s...
Simon, Mad Magazine Board Game, VCR Clue, Ghostbusters Board Game, Tivial Pursuit, Pictionary. to name a few.

Music of the 80s:
Here is an Awsome list of hit songs from the 80s. I refer to this list from time to time myself to remind myself of some of the great songs I used to listen to. hehe.

If you want a list of my favs just ask. hehe.

BTW
if you want ideas on clothes, rent 'Fast Times at Ridgemont high', or 'Footloose' both are great movies that show what high school fads and fashions were durring the 80s.

Don't be taken in too much by fashion on films. Lots of those outfits  were staged to start trends not reflect the fashion of most teens.
As for food, you can't really say there was "80s" food. because if it was any good it is still around.  But I think maybe if you did a little research you may find that the frozen pizza industry got a huge surge of sales in the mid-80s.  not that they weren't selling any in the 70s but only more.
Depending upon wherre you are in the country/world it may be a simple event as acknowledging the infiltratiion of big city fast food culture to your neighborhood.  But if you already are in a big town or city then maybe that won't fly.
When did bars and grills outside of Buffalo (or wherever they originated) begin selling hot wings?
you might also bring in some of the fruits most people had not heard of like the blood orange, or the kiwi. They are popular now, but when i was younger I never saw either one at my house!
Help-- older folks..was this REALLy popular in the 70s? Try ice cream punch maybe? dip scoops of Sorbet or sherbert of your chosen flavor into a punch bowl and add lemon-lime soda over the ice cream.  Raspberry or Champagne sherbert give it a pretty foamy pink color.  And of course rainbow is going to give you a marbled effect, which may not  look appetizing to your guests.  If you have a large freezer, you may want to chill the bowl before hand so it stays cold longer.  After the ice cream melts it does look like sticky soup but it still tastes fine as long as it is served cold.
     Good luck to you.

in regards to fads and fasions in films that is why I only stated the two movies.
as BOTH showed exactly what the fasions were like in my highschool, for the most part these two films reflected what was already in my school.  the only thing I can think of that became popular after the film was the VANS shoes.
