Subject: Movies that you should see but probably haven't

Suburbia
The Decline of Western Civilization
Urgh! A Music War

Of those three, I know that you can still rent Suburbia at well stocked rental places (no, Blockbuster does not count).  Decline was released on VHS a long time ago, but has been out of print for ages... no idea about Urgh! but it's probably out of print too.  Suburbia is a drama, and the other two are documentaries about the punk/new music scenes.

I pray that Decline, especially, is re-released so that kiddies born in the 80s can understand that punk rock did not start with Green Day and that the punks that Nicholas Cage and Emilio Estevez were supposed to be in Valley Girl and Repo Man would have been ridiculed as posers.

I really need to see Apollo 13 (though its not an 80's movie), not too many 80's movies I haven't seen, that I should.

Lanie, definitely go rent Star Wars!  :D

Star Wars is rubbish.  The acting from all but the veteran actors is uniformly horrible.

Go rent a movie from acclaimed director Akira Kurosawa called "The Hidden Fortress" and you'll see where Lucas appropriated the storyline and the character models for Han Solo and the two droids.

I have to admit, Lucas stole well for the first movie and was smart enough to let other people write and direct the second film (the only one that didn't stink), but he's gone downhill far and fast from that point forward.
