Subject: Flaming Sword

Written By: MaxwellSmart on 04/07/04 at 07:54 a.m.

Does anybody have the lyrics, or know where I can find the lyrics to Care's "Flaming Sword."
It was a minor hit in the fall of '83, but I only just discovered it for myself!
Care was a duo of Ian Broudie and Paul Simpson.  Broudie was in the '70s punk band Big In Japan.  He's produced for Echo & The Bunnymen, The Fall, Danse Society, Icicle Works, Alison Moyet, The Three O'Clock, Wall of Voodoo, and scads of others.
He's best known for his project The Lightning Seeds, with songs such as "Pure," "Sense," and "The Life of Riley."
"Pure" was one of my favorite songs of 1990, along with Aztec Camera's "Godd Morning Britain."
Anyway, Paul Simpson (Teardrop Explodes, Wild Swans) was the vocalist for Care, but Broudie wrote the songs, including the phallic-sounding "Flaming Sword."
I could ask the Lightning Seeds website, but I doubt they'd get back to me.
