Oops, I forget sometimes that not everyone graduated in the 80's - I don't think it would make much difference what year you graduated to reply to this thread, but that's up to the moderators.

Didn't the first Nirvana record come out in '89?  The genesis of grunge was an '80s phenomenon of disaffected youth in the U.S. northwest.  I think bands like The Minuteman and Soundgarden represent early successes in Grunge.
Grunge punctuated my love affair with "alternative music."
