When I went to school (a class of 200 kids) we had ONE girl who got preggers and it was a HUGE scandal.

Nowadays its a scandal if they're NOT preggers.  :P

OH BOY, THIS TOPIC REALLY CAUGHT MY EYE! ;D

SEX--The guys were supposed to have it with as many girls, and as often, as possible.  The girls were supposed to ambiguously imply they might be having it with the one best looking, most popular guy they could win over.

I, um, didn't have it at all until I was nineteen.

What was "cool" was "safe sex", given that AIDS awareness was in full swing. Some schools were even giving out condoms!

Whether actual sex was going on, I don't know. I myself was not sexual in high school. I think people had the assumption that "everyone is doin' it!", but the facts were that not everyone was. In fact a lot WERE NOT doing it!

It was still a scandal if a girl got pregnant then. Now, the school system I was part of has daycare for the babies of all the teen mothers!

The world's goin' to hell in a handbasket!

I wish no teenaged women got pregnant.  I wish we, as a society, could instill the esteem, hope, and discipline in children so they would defer sex until adulthood.  However, as long as teens bear children, I am in favor of providing daycare to encourage them to finish high school.  Abortion opponents should support this measure too.

Unfortunately, a high school diploma is rarely a ticket to a secure career...I wish it was.  Still, a HS diploma is definitely a big step in that direction.

That about sums it up.  The only thing I would add is that none of the girl's friends would say anything to her face, but would call her a slut behind her back because they were jealous that it wasn't them having sex (in my high school anyway).

All of that pretty much sums up my perception of sex in high school. I was a virgin throughout high school. I was also innocent in the mind at least the first couple years...it wasn't until my junior/senior year I developed a dirty mind. But still didn't quite grasp what sex actually meant.
It wasn't until my senior year I was really hearing about safe sex and condoms.

Where I went to school it wasn't cool at all.  I had a pregnant friend my senior year and students treated her like she had a disease.

It was the same way it is now.  There's really no difference.  Kids always think sex is cool, and girls that get pregnant are always looked at as easy.

I went to HS 80-84m, actual sex was talked about very little.  There was one "nice" girl that got pregnant, and she was actually a wonderful person, heck, probably still is.  Simple fact is- If a girl and guy go out long enough, they probably will end up having sex.

There were plenty of people doing it, just wasn't good if everyone knew.

Keep in mind that whenever you ask a question like this, you're not going to get fully honest answers from anyone here.  People know you are only like 14 or 15, so they will want to set a good example for you and your generation and stretch the truth by telling you how super moral and upstanding they were when they were kids.  So you can't expect anyone to tell you all the sordid details about what really went on during their high school years.

I will tell you that a lot of it depended on what high school you went to, and social demographics, but teenage pregnancy was pretty rampant in the 80's.  I mean I can't tell you how many 17-23 year olds I meet that tell me their parents are only 35 or 36 years old.  i.e., teen pregnancy in the 1980's.

Teenage childbearing is rampant among poor folks in America.  In some populations, out of wed-lock births are upwards of 90%.  Some of this problem is a result of teenage women being sexually involved against their will.  Much of it comes from the psychological need of young women who have no control and no hope to have something they can call their own--a baby.  Fulfilling the need is detrimental to their lives, but the need is so strong it overwhelms reason.
It's also intergenerational.  Holyoke, a ghettoized milltown down the road from me, has an adjacent mega-mall I call "Land of the 32-year old grandmothers."

All through high school I stayed a virgin with no interest in sex whatsoever.

I had a crush on one boy through out high school. The boy also liked me. We never did 'go out' together, but another girl at the school liked this boy too and was jealous he liked me. So she spread a rumour that I was a "slut" and had, quote unquote "F&%$ed him 8 times"! I was a virgin!  :o

Just goes to show that not all you hear in high school is true. So even people that say they are doing it may not be and vice versa  :-/

Don't judge me, because you don't know me.  The following is the absolute truth, whether you want to believe that actually exists or not...

I graduated from high school in 1984.  The landscape was completely different then.  This was before the AIDS epidemic had become mainstream and condoms were used primarily as a birth control method, with only some thought of preventing venereal disease.

The attitude toward sex was very casual, as I remember hearing "stories" of girls that "put out" and boys and their conquests.  Knowing how the teenage mind works now, I am sure that a lot of it was just trying to impress each other and draw attention to one's self.  Although I'm sure that some of that stuff went on, I am also sure that a lot of it was greatly exaggerated.

I had a couple pretty serious girlfriends in high school and sex eventually happened in both relationships.  As fun as all that was for the moment (I'm not lying, it was fun), the one regret that I have is that I didn't wait until I got married to have sex.  Just the thought of sharing that intimacy with someone else simply does not appeal to me at all.  I wish I would have saved that for my wife.

You can say all you want about sex with lots of people and the great times you can have, but I think if we are all honest, we would love to marry a virgin.  It would also be a thrill to present yourself that way to someone else too.   :)

While not all the sordid details were given, I didn't think they had to be to be honest answer.
