Subject: Worst Movies from the 1980's

Written By: woops on 04/12/04 at 10:30 p.m.

This may have been done before, but I would like to bring it now.

Here's what I consider the worst films from the 1980's:  :P

15.  "Cujo"
14. "Popeye"
13. "Legend"
12. "Staying Alive"
11. "Fish Called Wanda"
10. "Troop Beverly Hills"
9. "Steel Magnolias"
8. "E.T."
7. "Batteries Not Included"
6. "Ishtar" (Recently rented the film & it really is a stinker)
5. "Not Quite Human"
4. "Back to the Beach"
3. "9 To 5"
2.  "Killer Clowns From Outer Space"
1. "Howard the Duck"

What are some of your least favorite '80's films and some you disagree from the list.

A Fish Called Wanda is one of my favorites of the '80s.  If "9 to 5" is on, I'll always watch it awhile.  Even if it's only to hear Dabney Coleman say, "Spare me the women's lib crap!"
I agree on:
"Howard the Duck" and "Staying Alive."
SOME OF MINE--
Big Trouble in Little China
Krull
Porky's (the sequels, the original was just overrated)
Pet Semetery
Nobody's Perfekt (1980, w/ Gabe Kaplan, a total loser)
Time Walker
Bolero (Bo!)
Annie (just for overall ickiness)
Pod People
One Crazy Summer
Return of the Black Stallion
Grease 2
Rocky IV
Three Men and a Baby
Mister Mom
Lassiter (or any Tom Selleck flick)
Rhinestone
Mad Max: Beyond the Thunderdome
Breakin' II--Electric Boogaloo

MY PERSONAL PEEVE FOR OVERRATED HOLLYWOOD HISTORY:
REDS

Its hard to name the bad ones...b/c some of the "bad" ones have a certain cult following.
But I have to agree that I did not like Ishtar or Breakin' 2.

Let's not forget Karate Kid I & II.  I must admit I loved them both growing up but have watched them as an adult and thought, WTF???  Some of my favorite movies are the classics, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, all those brat pack flicks.  I also must admit I was a big fan of the Muppet Movies, especially Muppets Take Manhattan  ::)

I certainly agree with Popeye. I watched it a few years ago and was one of the few films I felt embarrassed watching.

Worst 80s films:

An Officer and a Gentleman
Three Men and a Baby
Grease 2
Moonwalker

Ah, Daniel-san, wax on, wax off...
Some of the change is a matter of style, 1984 was 20 years ago now.  The first KK is good for your standard "underdog beats the odds" inspiration film.  I have no use for the sequels.  Remember "My Bodyguard" with Chris Makepeace?  Not a bad movie in 1980, but it hasn't aged well!  MB was directed by actor/director Tony Bill, who played Clay's father in "Less Than Zero," which would also make my list of the worst for being an annoying Brat Pack fashion statement from start to finish.

A lot of my favourite films are because they haven't aged well. I love the computer sequence in Wierd Science when the two blokes try to hack into the computer system to create their dream girl. Because of the awesome CGI technology we have today, it's a breath of fresh air to see something dated - I don't understand it but that's how I am.   ;D

I wouldn't say these were bad films, but the following would certainly be among the most cheesy, in my opinion:

don't know the title of the film, but it was a vampire-themed movie with Jim Carrey and Lauren Hutton

Earth Girls Are Easy - also featuring Jim Carrey

I think Back to the Beach is a fun movie to watch, but that's just me I guess (I also enjoy a couple of Frankie and Annette's beach romps from the 60's as well)

Oh I've just remembered - Weekend at Bernies! God how awful!

Once Bitten
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089730/

I definitely have a soft spot for the cheesy b/c I like this film and Earth Girls.
I also agree, some of the movies bring back memories b/c they haven't aged well. Its endearing to me to see what we thought was so high tech back then. (ie Wargames, etc)
