Subject: Smash Hits Magazine...alternative mag '80s

Written By: tommyb on 2/2/1999 at 3:10 p.m.

Does anyone know where I can locate some copies of the '80s new wave/alternative magazine, Smash Hits??? It featured stories on bands of the alternative/new wave scene (Sisters of Mercy, Communards, Siouxsie, Cocteau Twins, Tones on Tails, etc...) I'm 33 and feeling sort of nostalgic...would like to locate. Any info appreciated.

Thomas

Or was this magazine called "Star Hits"???

I believe ChuckyG helped ya out with locating the mag, but wanted to respond with this...this magazine was "Smash Hits" in the U.K. and "Star Hits" (with limited changes) in the U.S. I remember I used to have a copy with four of the Fab Five (Duran Duran) in it (it was the one Simon described his yacht journey in), until Mom threw it away. *snif* I wish I still had it. It was good.

I would try www.ebay.com, the online auction site, since I see a lot of magazine turn up for sale there, you might find a cheap copy or two..
