Subject: "Ooh Babe I love you so" -- Who sings th

There is a song going through my head. It's from the 1980's, and I can't place the original artist. Shaggy did a sample of it recently in one of his songs. The key lyrics:

Ooooh babe, I love you so Never gonna let you go I hope you feel the same way, too.

I'd really appreciate the details. The lead singer was a girl and the music was somewhat techno. Any answers appreciated.

The original was done by Rose Royce on their great album "In Full Bloom," I can't recall who did the remake, I tuned out because it paled to the original - I still was having trouble stomaching the awful cover the appropriately titled Cover Girls did of "Wishing on a Star" in the late '80s. Incidentally the original version of that song is also on "In Full Bloom." You can find the artist you're looking for by calling any CHR radio station where you live or by looking through the Phonolog at your local record store.
