Subject: Robotech

I just enjoyed your numerous 80's quizzies but there is a DRASTIC mistake in one of the questions. First of all only the third installment of Robotech had the word "generation" in it (The New Generation) and the first was called Macross (named after the Japanamation movie that the serise was made from in Japan and then stolen and worked over by Harmony Gold (the production company headed by Carl Macek). And now the mistake...Min-Mei did NOT die...trust me I (and most Robotech fans) would have been overjoyed to have seen that girl roast. BUT alas it was not to be...for proof I offer up the ill-fated Robotech II project. It was to be another serise of three seasons of new material taking up where Marcross left off and before the New Generation began. Min-Mei was a charatcer in that serise...they never finished as they made the deal in Yen before the Yen became three times more valuable than the dollar and Harmony Gold could not complete even season one of the project. They cut their losses and smashed the first six episodes (which were mostly completed) together and tacked on an ending. You can find this "movie" in most stores that carry a good supply of Japanamation or you can refrenece Robotech art Three which chronicles Robotech II's doomed vision. Anywho--now that I've proved myself a total geek I just needed to get that off my chest. Your quizzes were a pleasure and I got about 80-90% correct.

> --Christopher Sorry PS the characters that DID die in Macross are: Roy (Rick's brother-not really but basically) Ben (Rick's wingman and Rick's first death that was his "responsibility" as a commander) The ENTIRE bridge crew including Admiral Gloval (began as Captain Gloval) except Lisa who the Admiral pushed into an "escape capsule" right before Kyron rammed the SDF One with his Zentrati warship.

And that, is that.

Just a bit more info...

If your calling the first generation of Robotech "Macross" then tecnically you wouldn't call the third series the "New Generation" but "Mospedia" (sp?)... the original name of the 3rd generation. For those interested in learnign more about the "Robotech II" saga, it's better known as "The Sentinals", the story can be found both in novels and comic books (In addition to the aforemention video which include Rick and Lisa's wedding, Bowie and Dana as kids, and an awesome combat between bioroids and invid on the planet Tirol). In addition, there is a Sentinel book for the Robetech role-playing game.

More ROBOTECH Trivia than you'll EVER need.

The Way I Heard It:

The rights to the ROBOTECH RPG were first offered to Steve Jackson Games, creators of the totally awesome GURPS. Whoops! Someone at SJG dropped the ball. Who got the RPG rights? Palladium. Rsult: crappy RPG for a killer series.

If you're thinkin' MACROSS/ROBOTECH RPG, go with GURPS, or, better yet, MEKTON Z.
