Subject: Somebody please stop LeAnn Rimes

OK. Somebody needs to stop LeAnn Rimes and the rest of the country singers that are taking really good 80's songs and trashing them. I work at a restaurant that plays country, and I just heard LeAnn Rimes remake of Prince's "Purple Rain". It is criminal with a capital C. No good guitar. No passion. Just LeAnn whining through the whole thing. This could lead to more bad things coming out of the country circuit. Somebody stop her. Somebody PLEASE stop her!

Has anyone else heard this outrage? I invite your comments.

Your pal, Retroraider

I think we have as much of a chance of stopping her as we do stopping Puff Daddy. As sad as it is nothing can be done unless the people who own the rights to the song say no to letting people use it.
I prefer to take an old CD or a compilation CD and listen to the original.
I guess I have given nothing constructive to use as far as stopping anything just wanted to let you know I am your side.
Dan

I would try to stop her, since I live in the South (hell, I'm from Texas and so is she), but I don't know where she lives. :( But yeah--you're right--country artists need to be stopped before they wreck another '80s song. God...and we thought Puff Daddy was bad...at least he's making "Kashmir" sound cool (and available for listening on BET (!))....
