Subject: I need major help

Written By: Princess Deimos on 8/17/1998 at 1:55 a.m.

No one has ever heard of Mi-Sex?
I'll type the small bio in one of my compulation tapes...
"Nowhere was the growing movement towards dance rock more apparent than in "Computer Games", the mind numbingly infectious 1980 electro-pop by New Zealand's Mi-Sex. This cut proved to be a propthetic one, presaging a flood of similar sounding Brit hits by more than a year. Unfortunatly for Mi-sex (and for us) "Computer Games" was completly unrepresntitve of the band's style, which didn't much help thier chances of launching a follow up hit. Though Mi-Sex continued recordingfor 7 more years, the dizzying highs of this tune out of reach for the rest of thier career..."
if anyone has any idea about them...names of other albums...other songs ect. let me know..

If you only knew how frustrating it is when someone posts something here that I have no clue about. I like to consider myself pretty well versed in 80's music but you, my dear, have stumped me. I have never heard anything from this group before.
So sorry,
Dan

Throughout the course of this messageboard, I have held the assumption that if Dan Nero doesn't know, than neither does any living human on earth. (Not being a smart a** Dan, I sometimes am in awe of your knowledge.) You probably have the compilation "This ain't no disco" which has danceable new wave hits. This is what I can tell you about Mi-Sex, which isn't much. The video for "Computer Games" was one of the very first music videos, and it appeared on a little known program on Nickelodeon called Popclips. Now, Popclips was sometime before the MTV network was even thought of. It was either a half hour or hour program shown around 9 or 10 on the weekends. Anyway, Computer Games was one of the most popular videos on the program along with Blondie's "Dreaming", Michael Nesmith's "Rio" and a really interesting one, Toni Basil's "You've Got A Problem" which was a couple of years before her smash "Mickey". Oh, and in the beginning MTV was a subsidiary of Nickelodeon networks, so you might say that Popclips was the birth of the whole music video genre.

Sorry I went off the subject. I tend to ramble sometimes.

No...go on! Your post was informative and interesting, since I was but a mere babe (2 years old) in 1981, back when MTV was debuting. Which means I was probably a one-year-old when this was on the air. So this is to me a GREAT history lesson...fascinating and informative!! Ooooh...and another thing...I haven't even HEARD of those songs!!! So there ya go.

Thanks for the new 411!

Diane
