Subject: Tribute For The Masses

Written By: Dan Nero on 8/17/1998 at 9:06 a.m.

Hey all,
Over the weekend I picked up the "Tribute For The Masses" CD and gave it a listen. Now being the die hard Depeche Mode fan that I am (the equivalent of Lindsay's undying love for Georgie Boy) I was happily surprised.
Even though it wasn't Dave's great voice coming across my speakers (or Martin's for that matter) it was still enjoyable to listen to other artists takes on DM's music.
If you are a big DM fan do yourself a favor and pick it up I think you would enjoy it. It just goes to show you that the 80's have such a big influence in the 90's.
Thanks for listening,
Dan

Dan~
I am so glad you got the CD! I understand how you feel....After all, I got the Storytellers and Greatest Moments CD's and they have honestly not stopped playing since.
The town I live in didn't have them, so my father found them and I saw him on yesterday. It was bad enough to have to wait from Tuesday, when it came out, to yesterday/
But, since I got them, they have played in the car, on the radio on repeat overnight, in front of the computer, etc...
I love talking with others who have a passion for the music of their fave. I appreciate that everyone notices my love for Culture Club. It means alot to me. I guess, though it sounds corny, I have alot to make up for.
I was a big fan of Culture Club and INXS growing up, amongo others. I had my mind made up that I would see INXS in concert, as I would CC. The 20th anniversary tour of INXS never happened cause Michael died about a week before it was to kick off.
I regretted it so bad and I knew from there, if you love an artist, you go see them and not put it off till they are 'near' you, cause you never know when that chance will be over. David Gahan almost proved that too.
George has done so much for my life. I have my musical dreams and he helps to enforce them for me. His passion for music and singing, let alone being himself, is to be admired.
Same for David Gahan, Dan. I too am a Depeche Mode fan, not as much as you, but I love them. I hope you enjoy the CD. Have you seen DM in concert? If not, I hope you can...
And, I am going to check out that CD that you bought too! HUGS and LOVE!

Hey there,
It is very true that you can' t wait for your favorites to come near you, sometimes you have to travel. I have been fortunate enough to see DM live and am looking very forward to seeing them again when they come to the states at the end of the year.
I can't believe I have forgotten about this but I have very fond memories of seeing INXS live when they were touring for Listen Like Thieves. It was in a very small venue in St. Petersburg, Florida. I was right up against the stage and had my elbow resting on the edge of the stage. It was wonderful, they were wonderful.
I can't believe I haven't told you that sooner knowing how big a fan you are.
Well anyway,
I am still sending my luck your way so you can meet Boy George.
Take it easy,
Dan

Dan~
I got word in my chat room that CC are adding dates in the south soon!
I hope so..I will do what it takes to travel! Maybe something is on my side now.
If you hear, or anyone else hears, that they are coming more in the south, e-mail me, post it here, do whatever!
Go outside and yell it if you have to!!
INXS live...oh, the depression...Can I be you for one day. You have seen Michael and George...I envy you.
Hey, when are you coming back to the room? I am glad you stopped by the other day!

What you guys have said have been SOOO unbelievably real and true and has spoken so deeply to me.

Recently there were rumors of Duran Duran breaking up. This wasn't true, thankfully, but it did shake the online Duranies up. I thank God every day those rumors weren't true because I would die if I never got a chance to see them perform live. I became a DD fan in 1991, you see, and I still haven't been able to see them perform live. The last time they swung on by where I live (Texas) it was December of last year and they toured Houston, which is a few hours away from me. I would have had to take off at least two days from school, at a time in which I was supposed to be getting ready for finals. Those two reasons were enough to drown my hopes of seeing them this last time 'round. But now that there's been this shakeup, and now that I've read what you two have said, I'll now sacrifice an entire WEEK if seeing DD live in concert is the end result.

I'm sure you know the feeling.

Thanks sooo much for making sense.

It is amazing how we all can communicate so well.
I hope you can see DD as I see CC...Then, we can get together and be happy about it!
They (CC) may be extending the tour, sooooo..I hope the same happens for you.
