Subject: Remember these

Hello all,
There are a couple of things that really stick out in my mind from the 80's.
1. Star Hits magazine, This was a New Wave magazine I think came from England. It was a must have if the groups you listened to were from Europe.

2. MV3 This stood for Music Video 3. It was filmed in California and had a guest host occasionally of Richard Blade. It was kinda like American Bandstand for New Wavers. One week they had an entire week dedicated to Adam Ant. They would feature a band that would perform live every once in a while.
Berlin, Oingo Boingo, Felony, Romeovoid. This was such a cool show.

Just wondered if anyone else remembered these.
Dan

As a '90s Duranie, I have had the dubious honor of hearing about Star Hits magazine billions of times but only being able to see ONE (and it was cool, too...Simon LeBon talking about Drum, pictures of Nick (be still my heart) Rhodes and Andy Taylor...an interview with John Taylor, too...)...damn, I'm getting sad now...Mom threw it away along with a lot of other neat things I had ("Entertainment Weekly"s from '91-'92, "Rolling Stone"s from '92-'93, among others). :( Now all I'll need to do is hunt that one down again...heck, it even had a little page with The Young Ones (which I was just getting into after being able to watch their reruns on Comedy Central).

*snif* It seemed like such a cool mag....

Diane

Dan, I don't remember those, but I do remember getting Canada' Much Music in the 80's...I can remember so many videos from there. Remember Tom Jones' cover of 'Kiss' by Prince? Or, the VJ Erica Ehm who wore a different cool hat everyday!
Dan, do you or anyone remember this channel, which is still running...???

I remember watching Much Music far more than MTV around early 86. I was living with my uncle in NorthCentral Wyoming then and, as anyone who has lived there can tell you, there was only one TV station. Thank God for satellite dishes. Unfortunately, the only way to aim it was to go outside and use a hand crank. Imagine doing that in four feet of snow. Anyway, we got all the music channels before the days of scrambling and Much Music was a far better network even then. However, BET was better than even that, and satisfied my hunger for what we now know as old school.
Kind of as an aside, on sat dish we got the MTV feeds for Spring Break and so there were no commercials. Some of the things they would show on the feed while the network was running commercials were... well...interesting.
