Subject: Title and Group - Help!

Written By: JB on 9/13/1998 at 9:43 p.m.

There's this song I heard on the radio the other day, that I've never known the name of, or the group...
it's a standards 80s album rock song, and I can only remember some of the lyrics (forgive me if I butcher them):

She's just 16 years old....... (that's at the beginning of the song)

If I could fly, I'd pick you up
I'd take you into the night,......

That's all I remember--anyone know this one?

Here you go. I knew with some searching it could be done...

@Into the Night
Benny Mardones
1980

She's just sixteen years old
Leave her alone, they say
Separated by fools
Who don't know what love is yet
But I want you to know

If I could fly
I'd pick you up
I'd take you into the night
And show you a love like you've never seen
Ever seen

It's like having a dream
Where nobody has a heart
It's like having it all
And watching it fall apart
And I would wait 'til the end
Of time for you
And do it again--it's true
I can't measure my love
There's nothing to compare it to

:|| CHORUS

Fade out--much screaming

I remember that song.
She's just 16 years old
Leave her alone, they say...

If I could fly
I'd pick you up
I'd take you into the night
and show you love
like you've never seen

now if I could remember who sang it and the title would be a different story.
let me do some checking around,
Dan

I got your back on this one, Dan. The song is called "Into The Night" and it's by Benny Mardones. An interesting aside. He may be a "one hit wonder", but the song actually hit the Billboard top 40 twice, once in July 1980 where it peaked at #11, and then again in June 1989 where it peaked at #20. The second version was actually a re-recorded version of the original.

Hope that helps ya.
