Subject: Shriekback-Nemesis

Written By: Dan Nero on 9/22/1998 at 7:43 a.m.

Does anyone remember this song.
I absolutely used to love to dance to this song.

Priests and cannibals
Prehistoric animals
everybody happy as the dead come home
big black nemesis
carthenogenesis
no one move a muscle as the dead come home.

I have been trying to hunt down the album it was on and can find it nowhere. I can find "Go Bang" which is the following album.

If you remember this song and know if it is on any compilation CD's PLEASE let me know.
I am pretty sure it was more obscure so it may not be on any of them.

Thanks everyone,
Have a good day,
Dan

Dan...

I don't believe it!!! I remember that song vividly!!! In fact, I was just thinking about it the other day, after seeing Rob Zombie's video for "Dragula"... It really reminded me of Shriekback... I remember the video to "Nemesis", as well... I believe it was released in 1985, way ahead of its time... From my recollections, the lead singer was bald, and kinda scary looking!!! It was a really good song, and I have been looking for it as well. Honestly, Dan, it would appear that you and I have been living the same life... If you can find out where to obtain this song, share the 411 with me, please!!!

Hey there,
Well I decided to go to www.lyrics.net just for the hell of it to see if they had the lyrics. Lo and behold to my surprise they did.
The name of the album was, "Oil & Gold"

In the jungle of the senses
Tinkerbell and Jack the ripper
Love has no meaning not where they come from
But we know pleasure is not that simple
Very little fruit is forbidden
Sometimes we wobble sometimes we're strong
But you know evil is an exact science
Being carefully correctly wrong

[chorus]
Priests and cannibals prehistoric animals
Everybody's happy as the dead come home
Big black nemesis parthenogenesis
No one move a muscle as the dead come home

We feel like Greeks we feel like Romans
Centaurs and monkeys just cluster round us
We drink elixirs that we refine
>From the juices of the dying
We are not monsters we're moral people
And yet we have the strength to do this
This is the splendor of our achievment
Call in the airstrike with a poison kiss

[chorus X2]

How bad it gets you can't imagine
The burning wax the breath of reptiles
God is not mocked he knows his buisness
Karma could take us at any moment
Cover him up I think we're finished
You know it's never been so exotic
But I don't know my dreams are visions
We could still end up with the great big fishes!

[chorus X3 to fade]

I am searching now to see if I can order it online.
I will let you know,
Dan
