Subject: help me remember this game show

if anyone out there remembers this, please let me know. it was a short lived game show on in the eighties. there was a huge typewriter keyboard that people answered blank spaces in the question by going up to the keyboard and trying to fill in the answers. if you won, you were placed in a booth with headphones and tried to answer some kind of questions to win money or a piggy bank. any info would be greatly appreciated...

I'm not sure, but I think the game show you're thinking of is "$1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime". It was hosted by Jim Lange of "The Dating Game" fame. The letters used in the puzzle was highlighted. There was an extra letter highlighted that wasn't in the puzzle. If the contestant pressed that key, control would go to the other team.

There was a game show in Britain like that. It was called "All Clued Up". There was a * key on the keyboard which would be highlighted were there an apostrophe in the phrase. The highlighted letter which wasn't in the puzzle was called the "stinger"
