Subject: EVERYBODY READ...IMPORTANT

Written By: MetalGirl on 6/3/2000 at 8:04 p.m.

This is an alert about a virus in the original sense of the word...this one affects your body, not your hard-drive. There have been 23 confirmed cases of people attacked by the "Klingerman Virus", a virus that arrives in your real mail, not your e-mail.

Someone is mailing out large blue envelopes to people at random all over the U.S. On the front of the envelope in bold black letters it reads "A gift for you from the Klingerman Foundation". When the envelopes are opened, there is a small sponge sealed in plastic. This sponge carries what is now known as the "Klingerman Virus". Public health officials state this is a strain of virus they have not previously encountered. When asked for comment, Florida police Sergeant Stetson said, "we are working with the CDC and USPS, but so far have been unable to track down the origins of these letters. The return addresses have all been different and we are certain a remailing service is being used, making our jobs that much more difficult".

So far 7 of the 23 victims have died. There is no legitimate Klingerman Foundation sending out unsolicited mailings. If you receive this envelope in the mail, DO NOT open it. Place the envelope in a strong plastic bag or plastic container and call the police immediately. This is one gift you definately do not want to receive.

I'm always amazed at what comes down the pike every few weeks.. there's been an FCC alert about charging per-minute access fees circulating since my BBS days of the mid-80s that I must twice a year still, although it's changed slightly to be Internet fees.. they actually passed a bill in the Senate as a result to make sure the FCC can't! just to try and put it to rest...
