Subject: ever wonder?

Doesn't it seem odd that some people get annoyed because they can't find information they need off this website (like the many requests for pictures to accompany descriptions)? This whole site is for entertainment, it is not a service! You can find pictures of just about anything on the internet if you put time and energy into it. The internet is an awesome source of information - I wish I had it back in school - but it seems like it has encouraged laziness. Ah, feels good to gripe. Carry on....

Right on, sister! You're really not a "sillyassgal" at all!

I agree.. it seems like people are all too eager to start and end with the Internet for information now-a-days.. which is just wrong.. I set up my site to be a good starting point for information, not the final destination. ie. If you need to know the major events of 1981, you could find them. Instead people complain that I don't have a major description of every single event, in other words, their homework already done for them.

How hard is it to go to a library and look through some old magazines on microfiche? I used to do it every couple of weeks.. I don't even see people using those things anymore when I go to the library.. and it's not like the information on the Net is more reliable, just easier to retrieve (and plagarize)

and it's not like I don't want to help kids who visit my site for information.. I've done small interviews for them (going to do one for some kids in Australia this week) and try to answer questions when they have them (ie. they don't ask "send me everything you have on clothing of the 80s") I even spend time combing through my collection of old catalogs (most libraries didn't save Sears Catalogs, a total shame) for info on prices, etc.

ok.. now I guess I'm venting >grin<

so where is everyone anyways? as soon as Memorial Day hit, the messageboard slowed down, as did hits to the site.. are there really that many people off enjoying the sun? maybe it's time for me to head to the Cape or something (Cape Cod that is..)

My turn to vent. I am tired of people whining about the site not having EXACTLY what they are looking for...ie, pictures of EVERYTHING!! I've been searching this site for a few months now, and I find that most of the descriptions are so detailed, you can pretty much pciture what they look like. Maybe these people complaining should shut up and let their imagination do the work, or does the internet do that now too?
