Subject: Fast Food Restaurants, Cereals and Bosco

Written By: Smith English/Spanish on 6/10/2000 at 10:28 a.m.

In the early 80's, "Burger King" still had a kid theme going with "The Burger King". The King had red hair and beard and the red cape and crown, of course. I always wondered why they nixed the "King" all together. Anyone???

There were "Taco Maker" fast food restaurants around. I think they were just as good as Taco Bell. They had them cinnamon and brown sugar taco chips too. There are very few Taco Makers left in the world.

I liked "Kentucky Fried Chicken" the way it used to be, before they turned into "KFC". They had corn on the cob in a rotating-type machine in most of their establishments. Corn isn't even in they're menu now, unless it's that canned stuff. They also had the fruit tarts. My favorite was the cherry tart. What's up with those changes?

Does anyone remember the "Corn Pops" cereal box with the cowboy on the cover with a tall yellow hat? It was later replaced with a porcupine.

"Bosco" chocolate syrup was the highlight of my mornings mixed-in with cold milk. Why it's no longer widely available, I would like to know. The same goes for "Carnation Malted Milk" and Chocolate Flavored Malted Milk.

"Hershey's" chocolate powdered mix (with sugar) came in a yellow can at one point. The can had a caricature of a little boy drinking a glass of it mixed-in with milk, on the front.

In the recent years, they (Nestle) have shortened the name Nestle's "Quick" on their products.

Where are the "JORDAN ALMONDS" ?????????????????????????????????????????????????

That's all for now, folks.

Does anyone else remember the Burger Chef hamburger chain? The adverts featured Burger Chef and his young sidekick, Jeff. I'm not sure if they were a national chain or just here in the southeastern US.

I DEFINITELY remember Burger Chef! I had my 8th birthday party there LOL. I can still remember the taste of those burgers! As a matter of a fact, there is a big group of followers that are trying to revive the chain. Check out the link below. April

Hey, thanks for the link! That picture of the old building, and of the Chef and Jeff, brought back some memories. I can remember being a kid and always begging my mom to stop at BC :)
