Subject: Final Try, Getting Desperate!!!!

Written By: Peter G. on 6/24/2000 at 11:34 a.m.

There are STILL two songs, recorded off the radio in the 80's, that no one has been able to identify...for those interested, a previous post of a song including words "I've got to get away" was Rossington Collins' Getaway...now, if anyone out there could shed any light on the following two, many will be eternally grateful! Thanks in advance....

1. Male lead, sort of Lou Gramm type sound:

She knows everything, Knows that everything in every .... Every heart you've broken, every girl you've made cry She's gonna balance the scale tonight

I'll call it revenge, she's the master of disguise, Everything you've ever wanted she can be in your eyes, and when you fall for her hopelessly, She'll disappear like a mystery

Look out around the world Watch out for the mystery girl You boys walking with your flags unfurled They'll be at half mast for the mystery girl.

She slips into the shadows with her burning blue eyes She whispers something as she tells you your own lies She tells you she's lonely like you always do She knows your game and plays it better than you So get ready for love, get ready for pain, Get ready for the one girl who can put you away, You'll soon discover that the mystery, What sleeping beauty that you let go free.

Look out around the world, watch out for the mystery girl, etc.

2. Female lead, brassy voice:

Turn it up, turn it up, As you sleep on your daydreams, She rests, she plans and schemes, Until it comes won't be satisfied, And with that way of thinking, well, It clearly ........ She knows she's free and she will not be denied.

Turn it up, turn it around, Citizens hour after hour, .......

And you really can't blame her, There's a fire burning inside her, With a vengeance that even she can't explain.

Turn it up louder, Citizens hour after after, .....

And you're ready to .... A fire burning inside her, With a vengeance that even she can't explain.

Good luck on these!!!!

This first one is driving me nuts. I've heard it, just can't remember anything about it.

Because that first one sounded familiar (I want to know who it is), I posted your question at the Backtrax board. Does this singer sound anything like the other one you found because the music guru of the Backtrax site said this one was "Turn It Up" by Rossington off Returned to the Scene of The Crime from 86. He actually said Rossington Collins Band, but after doing some checking it turns out to be just Rossington. The same singer (Dale Krantz-Rossington), different band. He also said he would try to find the other 2.

Thanks for giving a try...will see if I can verify the second one being Rossington...come to think of it, the singer DOES have a similar sound to Get Away (Rossington-Collins in that particular case)...I'm not sure I can do any better parsing the Mystery Girl song...the chorus is the repeating lyric, I transcribed as much of the other parts of the song as I could decipher...you know how these things can be, playing the tape back, over and over...well, a lot of people have tried and failed on these, so again, any and all help will be appreciated by many! Thanks again! Peter
