ok.. the new stuff is up and running.. you're not going to see your "New messages since last visit" until your next visit, since that was reset by the new software (sorry)
there are some cool new features however
if you click on the "edit profile" link at the top of the index page, you can create a small profile of yourself for others to view on the site
if you use a smiley (a colon and a closing paren) it will be translated into an image
you can embedded some HTML markup, mostly stuff like italics and bold
check out the help link for a full list of stuff you can do with the new formatting stuff..
you can also spell check your posts, although it does take a few minutes (it's not the quickest thing in the world) but it does work
