Subject: Almost forgotten TV Show

Written By: julia on 7/30/2000 at 3:09 a.m.

My friend and I were talking about a show we remember watching when we were very young. We vaugely remember it starring a white man with an afro in a yellow superhero outfit with a red cape. He would always "land" wrong and fall on the ground and his cape was always getting in his face when he was flying. What was this show? I apologize if it was from the 70's. The theme song was sung by Christopher Cross? I think it went "believe it or not it's just me.."

The TV show was called "The Greatest American Hero". The theme song was titled "Believe it or Not", and was a huge top 5 hit here in the U.S. for Joey Scarbury (yeah, I agree he sounds a bit like Christopher Cross) in the Summer of '81. The song was off of Scarbury's 1981 album, "America's Greatest Hero". Unfortunately, the album is long out-of-print, and has never been re-issued on CD here in the U.S. I have the cassette myself...
