Subject: Singer Paul Young dies

Written By: Aj on 8/1/2000 at 7:37 a.m.

Singer Paul Young, whose lead vocals recorded
the 1986 hit, "All I Need Is A Miracle" while as a member of Mike & The Mechanics has died. Ironically, this summer he was to go on
tour with other artists, including 80s singer
Paul Young who shares his name and had hits like, "Come Back & Stay","Everytime You Go Away", and "Oh Girl".

Don't forget Young's key role as lead singer of the late '70s/early '80s band, Sad Cafe, which also scored a couple of minor hits here in the U.S...

Yeah, I just read that in People magazine. It is very sad, indeed. Makes us realize that none of us know just when our time is going to come.

What was the cause of death? How old was he?

He was 53 and died of a heart attack at home

Two things:

1 - The death of Paul Young is very sad.

2 - Paul Carrack sand lead on "All You Need Is a Miracle by Mike and the Mechanics - a band Paul Yound was never a part of.

Paul Carrack was lead singer of Mike + the Mechanics. But you have been misinformed Paul Yound was a part of that band and did do vocals, It just isn't the one your thinking of. Group Members were Paul Carrack, Paul Young, Adrian Lee, Mike Rutherford, Peter Van Hooke, and Greg
Dechert. He was 53.

The Paul Young you are thinking of sang "Everytime You Go Away", "Come Back in Stay", etc. and is 44 and still alive.

I feel stupid, the whole time I thought it was the "Everytime You Go Away" Paul Young. I told everybody the wrong thing. On the 44-year-old Paul Young's website, it has an excerpt on the Mike & The Mechanics singer in the News section.

That is exactly what I said in the original post,
but Boy George O'Dowd disagreed with the post.

Paul Carrack's vocal recorded most of the hits done by Mike & The Mechanics that could have caused part of the confusion.
