Subject: Chicago:Behind The Music reminder

Written By: james martin on 10/12/2000 at 9:19 p.m.

This Sunday, Vh1 will profie one of the most successful, gifted, talented, true original bands of the last 34yrs: Chicago. This is a group that sold over 120 million records, release 26 (soon to be 27) albums, 12 hit the Top ten (5 went to #1) 34 Top 40 hits, 12 Top ten singles,(3 of them hit #1). we'll see their beginnings (sorry, I had to throw that song in), keyboardist/songwriter/vocalist Robert Lamm cocaine additions, the accidential shooting of guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Terry Kath, the changes in musical taste that for a time the band felt uneasy (especially the 80's), & their survival into the 21st century with a new generation digging their "Chicago Horn" sound and still making new music as we speak. Sadly, former lead singer/bassist/songwriter Peter Cetera will not part of this show. I saw somewhere on the net that they did a 6hr interview & some of that footage wound up a 1hr show. Could someone confirm that? Also, can someone check if there was any other way to salvage that interview (at least 2hrs of it), to be release on either VHS or DVD so it will be fair for all of us & Peter to see what they left out or a Behind The Music on him to make it even. Meanwhile, what is your favorite Chicago song, favorite Chicago album (You can include their albums of the 70's if you want along with our favorite album cuts off all of their albums). I'll get the ball rolling: "What You're Missing", "Follow Me", "Sonny Think Twice", & "Rescue You" from "16". "Only You", "Remember The Feeling (an underrated BALLAD), "Along Comes A Woman" (personally, I like the remixed version), "Prima Donna", & "Once In A Lifetime" from "17. "25 or 6 to 4" ('86 version), "Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now", "I Believe" ( another underrated Chicago ballad), & "One More Day" from "18". "We Can Last Forever"(UNDERRATED), "What Kind A Man Would I Be" ( I PREFFERED the remix version), "Heart In Pieces", "Runaround", & "Victorious" from "19". as for "21", I like all of the songs off that UNDERRATED album. I can't see why they hated this album & why back in'91, they refused to sing any of the songs off that album. O.K. you probably know that most of my favorites are album cuts because there's too many of their hits that I can't list. THEY'RE TIMELESS!!!!!! Now, what's your pick? Come on now!!! ya'll have your favorites. Aj, Chucky G, 80'sMusic Freak, are you listening? let's support this veteran band & get them back on the airwaves again not just a.c.radio, but Top 40 radio as well. SOONER OR LATER, the PD's will have to give in on playing the current artists game & play some new music from artists of the past. WAKE UP PD's, THE 80's ARE COMING BACK WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!!!
