Can ANYONE tell me where I can get the song "Gone Gone Gone so long" from Chilliwak? It came out around 1981 or so. Thank you!

For starters, the correct spelling of the band's name is "Chilliwack". And the proper title of the song in question is actually "My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)". You're right, it was a moderate hit here in the U.S. in the Fall of '81. It was off the group's 1981 album, "Wanna Be a Star". Unfortunately, the album is long out-of-print, and has never been re-issued on CD here in the U.S. I have the cassette myself...

That song can be found on their greatest hits cd (VCK-80129), which is a Canadian import. I bought it at Best Buy. It can also be found on a compilation cd called The Lost 45s of the '70s & '80s (VSD-5955) on the Varese Vintage label. I bought that at Circuit City.

True. In fact, I have the Canadian "Greatest Hits" on cassette (as well as the original version released under the title "Segue" in 1983). And yes, I also have the excellent American "Lost 45s" CD you mention. Of course, "My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)" can be found on countless other compilations as well (some of which I also have)...

The main reason I very rarely mention either imports or compilations when responding to q's about specific songs on this message board is because, like in this case, there are usually so many options available, that it isn't worth the time researching it all, and then posting it here. Hopefully the info I do provide is enough for the person to at least go to a music retail site on the 'net (or their local mall store), put it to good use there via a search engine, and then make up their own mind whether or not an expensive import is worth it, or perhaps a compilation w/ many other artists instead...
