Subject: Where are good 80's Timelines?

Written By: Bob on 11/6/2000 at 7:39 p.m.

I am working on a book that takes place beginning in 1980-81 and am trying to find good timelines that show, among other things:
1. What show was on TV on a particular date.
2. What songs were popular on a particular date.
3. How much cars were and when they were released.
4. Picture of seasonal clothes.
Basically, I'm trying to find a good resource to look at what it was like to be 20 years old on, say, June 29, 1981.
Thanks for any suggestions!

How about researching back issues of Popular Mechanics? Or pretty much any auto magazine. Old TV guides, newspapers, magazines (fashion, cooking, news, etc). A University library is full of these type of things, you might want to try contacting one. It won't be easy as you need details within details, but, then again, who said writing a book was easy? Be ready to spend LOTS of money should the magazines offer backissues...
I would say newspapers are your best source - they provide news on events around the country, world, local; TV listings; movie and music reviews; business news; and miscellaneous...
