why was that number chosen for the song was it just randomly pulled out of the air?

Actually, it was in retaliation to getting dumped by his girlfriend, Jenny. I believe it was her phone number, and he knew that hundreds of morons upon hearing the song would call her, thus bugging the bejesus out of her. I don't know why I know all of this trivial crap, It just happened to stick in my brain better than the algebra did in high school.
