Subject: The Tubes

Written By: April on 12/13/2000 at 7:29 p.m.

Ok, it's my turn to ask a question. Yesterday on the radio, I heard "Don't Fall In Love" (I believe that was the title of the song) by the Tubes. I got to thinking, did they have any other hits besides that one? I don't think they did, but sometimes my memory fails me. By the way, was that song from 1989?

Thanks!
April

Here is what I found.

In 81 "Don't Want To Wait Anymore" reached #35.
In 83 "The Monkey Time" reached #68
In 83 "She's A Beauty" reached #10
In 83 "Tip Of My Tongue" reached #52
In 85 "Piece By Piece" reached #87

I listened to sound clips of all these songs, "She's A Beauty" is the only one I recall ever hearing.

I was wondering if the song was actually called "She's A Beauty". I checked out that site that Laura suggested and found it interesting that they're still around! Wow. But that one song is still a great one to hear! Thanks for the responses.

TX failed to mention "Don't Touch Me There", which hit #61 in the Summer of '76, and "Talk to Ya Later", which went to #101 in the Fall of '81. In fact, thanks to its top 10 success on the AOR chart, "TTYL" is actually considered the band's third biggest hit, after "...Beauty" and "...Wait Anymore"...

Also, TX may be interested to know that "Piece By Piece" was written and produced by a fellow named Todd Rundgren...

I don't think I remember "Don't Touch Me There" either. It was from 76, I think I was listening to Disco then (I was 7.)

Oh that figures, I only have charts of the Hot 100. I do remember this one, even thought about mentioning it.

Boy does Todd get around.

Where have I heard that name before...? Hmm.
