Subject: MTv turns 20 this year!!!

Written By: james martin on 1/1/2001 at 8:46 p.m.

O.K. I'm starting this trend. This year marks the 20th anniversary of one of the most important & creative & mindblowing forces in history: the birth of MTv. Hopefully, the already damaged cable program should go back to its roots and find out how they got from just a little known cable channel to one of the important music programs in history. My question is: Do you think MTv will start playing not just the near overexposed, but important videos like"Video Killed The Radio Star" to lost videos like Journey's "Chain Reaction" & Styx's "Heavy Metal Poisoning"? My answer: I doubt it. They probably want to go ahead than looked back. I WOULDN'T IF I WAS THEM!!!! Any comments?

I hope they do some sort of weekend where the show NOTHING but 80s videos. A marathon or something. Maybe I'll keep MTV on for more than 2 seconds again. I remember when we first got MTV. I was the first one in my group of friends to get it and I remember when Duran Duran's "Union Of The Snake" premeired that I had to call my best friend and put the phone next to the speaker so she could hear the new song. LOL! Ah, old MTV. Maybe they'll bring JJ, Alan, Nina, Mark and Martha back for that marathon that they'll never have!!!
