Subject: Hamburger Hill...ending quote

Written By: Dana on 1/8/2001 at 4:23 p.m.

Is there anyone who can provide me a copy of the quote written at the very end of the movie "Hamburger Hill"? I viewed this movie this weekend and that quote is haunting me.....I did not get the chance to jot it down. It had something to do with our giving thanks to the Vietnam Vets regardless of how we felt about this war. Many thanks to anyone who might be able to provide!!!!

"If you are able,
save for them a place
inside of you
and save one backward glance
when you are leaving
for the places they can
no longer go.
Be not ashamed to say
you loved them,
though you may
or may not have always.
Take what they have left
and what they have thaught you
with their dying
and keep it with your own.
And in that time
when men decide and feel safe
to call the war insane,
take one moment to embrace
those gentle heroes
you left behind "
