Subject: '80's girls are the best!

Written By: Britton on 2/2/2001 at 7:01 p.m.

I'm sooo glad I grew up and went to school in the '80's. Those girls looked a lot better than younger girls now a days. '80's girls weren't afraid to wear make up or wear tight fitting cothes like girls today. I watch movies from the '80's all the time, and kinda long for them days when girls dressed the way they wanted, and didn't wear all these baggy clothes 10 times to big for them. Growing up in the '80's, I'm probably a little biased, but they WERE the best looking generation of girls ever.

I totally aggre with this statement.Yes, I am biased, having grown up during this time, but this statement is true, it's true! The female's of this time period blow away any others because of the way they expressed themselves, and the way they did things to find themselves. They loved fashion, and I loved it on them. They looked so good. I, also, wish I could go back to that time and enjoy myself all over. The younger girls today do the same types of things, but express themselves differently, and that will change with every year that passes. They have to find themselves in their own ways, and the times will dictate what actions they perform, how they present themselves(physically), and where they're headed. Oh those beautiful eighties!!!!!!!!

I grew up in the 80's as well, and true, we did wear a different style than today. BUT, you mention girls today being afraid to wear make up and tight clothes...um, have you seen Britney Spears? Christina Aguilera? Any of those other pop-tarts? Not only do they wear makeup and tight clothes, they also bare as much as possible every chance they get. If they aren't showing it outright, they wear clothes that are colored in a a way that makes you think you're seeing it all. Britney Spears at the AMA's is a good example of this. And young girls look to them for their "look" just as often (if not more) than the baggy look I saw in the early to mid 90's.
I am now raising a daughter in this day and age, and though she is still young, I dread the day she comes home thinking she wants to dress like one of those little twits out there. Dream on!
So, yes, I prefer the brat pack look of the 80s...we definitely agree there! But what I guess we don't agree on is the way girls seem to look today.
But hey, the 70's seem to be reappearing in clothing style now---maybe when my daughter hits her teens the 80's will be making a comeback!! :o)

Britney and Christina? They leave nothing to the imagination...very unlike the 80's.
