Subject: Searching for a song

Written By: Jan on 2/11/2001 at 12:19 p.m.

Hi.
I'm searching for a song I heard yesterday. I really don't know much about it:

1. The song is placed somewhere in the "New Wave"
2. It sounds like OMD, New Order or Depeche Mode (but not so "dark")
3. It has a long intro with no singing
4. A wonderful melody
5. Something of the lyric: "I try...", "Every day (and) every ... night"
6. It must be famous song, because the DJ didn't play unknown songs or even "insiders"

That's all I know. It's not much, but I hope you can help me.

Could it be "Nowhere Girl" by B. Movie? It's probably their 1985 remix version with the long 2-3 minute intro with the manic-girl-laugh. Some of the lyrics read thus:

"...every day, every night
in the ooold familiar light
you huuuung up when I called you at hoooome...

...and I tryyyyy to get through
and I tryyyy to talk to you,
but there's something stopping me from getting throoooough..."

The 1981 version is much better, though. You can feel the New Wave emerge when you listen to it...

PS- you're right about that DJ, but it is an awesome song.

By the way, the structure of the song is similar to "Love is a shield" by Camouflage
