Subject: Flashdance:Behind The Music

Written By: james martin on 3/8/2001 at 4:10 p.m.

This Sunday, VH1 Will do a BTM on one of the most unexpected films of the 80's: Flashdance; Believe it or not, I haven't seen the entire film;but I remember the soundtrack like everybody else. Laura Branigan, Donna Summer, I can't remember the other artists on that soundtrack except the 2 big hits from that incredible soundtrack: "Flashdance(What A Feeling)" Irene Cara & "Maniac" Michael Sembello. So don't scold me that I didn't see that movie or personally own the soundtrack. Comments please?

I remember bursting out of the theater and dancing all the way home. I got into modern dance class soon after. Dancing, dancing, dancing. We all wore our shirts and sweatshirts ripped and off the shoulder. Leotards and leg warmers; and more leg warmers; leg warmers of every color, even stripes.
That summer I babysat for the president of the Berklyn Business school at a retreat in Helsgate, Utah. Everyone there was into that movie and it's motivating message. High powered adults, the children, and of course the teens. The movie was a big part of that year and a defining time for me personaly. You always tell me what's up, thanx again.
