Subject: Legend, Labrinth, Ladyhawk, Last Unicorn

Written By: pegacornj on 3/25/2001 at 7:03 p.m.

My favorite movies include Legend, Labrinth, Ladyhawk, and The Last Unicorn.

Some questions beyond the obvious L theme.

Was Legend Tom Cruise's first movie? Was Tim Curry the best devil ever or what? What did you think of the music by Tangerine Dream?

Was David Bowie's music in Labrinth still a hit with you? (or do you just let it be for kids?) And wasn't he better looking than ever?

Was Michelle Phiffer ever more lovely than she was in Ladyhawk? Wasn't that a great horse that Rutger Hauer rode? (The breed is called Fresian and all of them look that way.)

In The Last Unicorn (Great Book by Peter S. Beagle) what did you think of the music by America?

I just thought I would throw that out there as they are still my favs, and I would love to hear what you think.

: Was Legend Tom Cruise's first movie?

How could you forget "Risky Business?" It wasn't his first, but it was before "Legend."

At Imdb.com it list his first movies as:

"Endless Love (1981)"
"Taps (1981)"
"Losin' It (1983)"
"The Outsiders (1983)"
"Risky Business (1983)"
"All the Right Moves (1983)"
and then "Legend (1985)"

Hope this helps.

Legend definately wasn't Cruise's first movie, although I'm not sure what was his first. He was in Taps, which came out several years ahead of Legend, so maybe that's it.

I'm not sure about the best devil ever, but Curry was certainly the best transvestite ever! (Rocky Horror reference, in case there is an alien reading this.)

: was in Ladyhawk?

No. Have you seen her lately? She's all skin and bones now, not very attractive.

Hmmm, never saw "The Last Unicorn" (as upon further research, it appears to be a "chick flick"), and was actually unaware that the soundtrack was done by America, a group I've always enjoyed. I may need to give that soundtrack a listen, just for the heck of it...

Chick flick?! It's a cartoon in the same vein as "The Hobbit". The main voices are some top stars ie... Angela Landsbury, Mia Farrow, Jeff Bridges, Renee Oberjonos(sp?)DS9's Odo.) and a really good "Last Unicorn" title song by America. It's worth renting (watch it with your kids) if you liked The "Hobbit" or "Watership" Down. Although not quite that level of intensity.

Tom Cruise justs looks so cute and young in "Legend" that I thought it was before "Risky Business". I guess it was the longer hair. I just love him in longer hair. (Why he was cuter in "Point Break" than "Speed" and "MI2" not "MI1".) Thanx for the timeline TX. Didn't remember him in the "Outsiders". That was just on another thread.

Poor Michelle, I thought she was the most beautiful woman in Ladyhawk (helped she had a wolf as her companion, rode the most awsome horse, and turned into a hawk), and now she looks so frail. So sad, to bad, I still want that horse.

No comment on Bowie?

Thanx

*Why he was cuter in "Point Break" than "Speed."*

Wasn't that Keanu Reeves?
