Subject: New 80s Events!

Written By: Sal C. on 3/28/2001 at 8:09 a.m.

From www.80sxchange.com:

Run DMC will do an online chat at MSN.com on April 5.

The Psychedelic Furs have launched a reunion tour. The shows will be recorded for a live cd. They will then record a cd with all new material next year.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers will do a 15 show warmup tour of the western US in May and June. They are in the process of recording their new cd. They will be selling the best seats to these shows at www.tompetty.com starting at 2PM EST on Thursday March 29.

REM's new cd, Reveal, will be released on May 15.

Judas Priest's new cd will be called Demolition. Some of the song titles are: Metal Messiah, In Between, Lost and Found, One On One, Feed On Me, and Machine Man.

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band will release a live cd, Live in New York City, on April 3. The cd was recorded during last year's E Street Band Reunion Tour.

Living Colour have reunited for a west coast (US) tour and possible new cd. More dates are expected to be added.

Def Leppard are working on a new cd. They hope to finish recording it by year's end, with a possible tour next year.

L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat, and Gilby Clarke (ex-G'N'R) will go on tour this summer.

Also hitting the summer tour circuit is one of the strangest combinations (IMO): Bulletboys, Pretty Boy Floyd and Lizzy Borden.

The Cult will release their new cd on June 5. They will hit the road this summer with Monster Magnet.

Major 3-day festival in southeast US: It is called The 8th Annual Atlanta Downtown Festival. Featured acts include Fuel, Black Crowes, Jerry Cantrell, Blue Oyster Cult, Cheap Trick, Kansas, Bob Dylan, Steppenwolf, The Cult, and Steve Earl. There will be over 100 acts on the bill scheduled for May 4-6 in (you guessed it) downtown Atlanta.

Jethro Tull will tour the US from July to September.

Rumor: Bon Jovi's shows at Giants Stadium on July 27 and 28 will be their last. Is Jon quitting the band to concentrate on his acting career?

Joey Ramone, lead singer of The Ramones, has been diagnosed with Lymphoma. He is in a New York hospital "getting better and better" according to his publicist.

Rumor: Mike Inez is a serious contender to replace Jason Newsted in Metallica.

On the "Glam Slam Metal Jam" (see messages on www.80sxchange.com):
More dates have been confirmed, check www.quietriotonline.com for information in your area. Look for Poison's new single, Rockstar, soon. Rikki Rocket will be in an online chat at www.usatoday.com on Thursday March 29 at 5PM PST.

THE big news is (and this is only happening in Texas, sorry guys) the lineup for the San Antonio and Houston shows. Not only will the 'regular' lineup of Poison, Warrant, Quiet Riot, and Enuff Z'nuff be there but they will have some 'special' guests as well: Vince Neil, Great White, and Bulletboys!!!! Get your tix fast, this tour will sellout, esp. those Texas shows!
