heard there was a special edition or directors cut of Dune(1984) that was around 4 hours long and absolutly is better than the original 134min version released. Is there anyone out there that knows of this edition and how to get it on DVD?

The extended version is about 3 hours long. It played out on TV over 4 hours with commercials. It has 35 minutes of additional footage. They changed the prologue and added scenes to help make the plot make more sense. Well here's the availability part. It is available on DVD, but only in Region 2. If, by any chance you have Region 2 capability, you can order it from blackstar.co.uk I got the disc a while ago, but haven't watched it yet. If you have a DVD-ROM drive, there's a chance you can reset the region on it.
