Written By: ILLINI_1 on 3/31/2001 at 11:27 p.m.

Does anyone know who all performed for Band-Aid in the song "Do They Know It's Christmas Time?" I know some of them but just need a complete list. Thanks in advance.

That song had some real deep lyrics, like "there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time". Boy, I hate it when those African blizzards disrupt traffic!

Were you trying to be funny?

Just in case you were serious about it, the snow
reference had nothing to do with snow (although it does snow in some southern parts of Africa), it had to do with our American ideals of Christmas. It doesn't snow in San Diego or Miami much either but everyone dreams of a "White Christmas" and being "Home for the Holidays" with giving, love, and food as major themes in most celebrations surrounding the holiday. Giving money to buy the record, gave Africans (Who mostly don't celebrate Christmas) food. The song played on our American wallet by giving us a sad theme with a way to please ourself (no matter which artists we liked at the time) and eleveate guilt at a traditional giving time of year.

I personaly liked the video, not the song, because of all of the artists I liked (and still do) at the time. But I bought the record and gave it to a friend for Christmas because I wanted to help. (2 birds with 1 stone) What a marketing dream.
