Subject: Transformers Movie Question

Written By: b on 5/10/2001 at 3:27 a.m.

Hello,

I do think it was a movie that I saw when I was little but I know there is more than one Transformers movie; so I need a bit of help here identifying the movie and/if it was a movie (maybe it was an episode?! I'm pretty sure it was a movie though.) I recently watched the 1986 one, I think it was, which had Optimus Prime die and the big robotic planet thing that controlled the Decepticons. But for some reason, I remember watching a movie that had Galvatron at the bottom of some ocean near the end, cursing the Autobots and plotting his return?! I remember actual energy cubes being created by Soundwave too - from his tape deck.

Of course, this was quite some time ago so this is basically what I can remember. Can anyone help and tell me what movie this was or if it was from the series?

As a former '80s Transformer fanatic I wasn't all that keen on watching the Transformers cartoon because I was more in love with the Marvel comic books but I do think I can help you with your inquiry somewhat....Ok the first Transformers cartoon was called Arrival from Cybertron which I had on video cassette several years ago and from what I remember the actual ending of this cartoon has the former Decepticon leader, Megatron being defeated by the Autobot Mirage who had sabotaged the Decepticon spacecraft which crash landed into Earth's ocean and the final scene was were Megatron escaped from out of the damaged spacecraft at the bottom of the sea. I do remember another memorable scene where both Megatron and the Constructicons were defeated then dumped into a active volcano and the final shot we see Megatron uttering the words "...we will rise again!!", a bit campy really.
In the 1986 Transformers film the broken, defeated body of Megatron was flung into deep space under the command of the traitorous Starscream where Megatron met the legendary Unicron and was reconstructed as Galvatron who then assasinated Starscream in a rather dramatic fashion.
I used to have a copy of the 1986 film, it was really big back in it's day because it featured the voices of Orson Welles, Leonard Nimoy and Eric Idle ( one of the performers from the Monty Python team ).
The scene where you saw Soundwave produces Energon cubes from his chest module might be from Arrival from Cybertron although I can't remember any scene of that description.

Well...I hope that helps jog your memory a little.
