I've never been a concert but I'd like to hear from some of you folks, what was the greatest gig of the '80s you ever went to?

Far and away - Bruce Springsteen in the mid 80's - BUT before the huge stadium shows. I saw him at Madison Square Garden around '84/'85 - Born in the USA - FOUR HOURS LONG!!! The Boss was and still is an amazing performer.

The best concert I've ever been to was Howard Jones, and I also went to see REO Speedwagon and Rick Springfield. The first concert that I ever saw my sister took me to see a Rush concert.

The Police were touring behind their album "Ghost in the Machine" and the Go-Go's were riding high with "Beauty and the Beat". Even though the Police were well established by that time, the opening act the GoGo's got called out for three encores due to the amazing live show they put on. Plus it doesnt hurt that I had backstage passes for the show afterwards!!

Alice Cooper for the Raise Your Fist and Yell tour. Alice is the greatest showman ever!

Several stick out as putting on great shows.

Ozzy, AC/DC, KISS and Judas Priest all were outstanding, but the most memorable was probably Lillian Axe performing at a small club before a crowd of, maybe, 200 people. That was before their major label debut (probably around 85 or 86 if I had to guess) - Stevie Blaze is/was one of the most underrated rock guitarists from that period, IMO.

Nuclear Assault, Mordred, and Ruthless Horde at Blondies in Detroit. A 250 club. It was intense!

I have to say Duran Duran!! Def Leppard was pretty good too!

April

P.S. Someone else mentioned Monsters of Rock. I went to that in 88. I hated it, there were so many drug addicts there, vandalism, fires etc. You name it...it was there. Couldn't enjoy the concert.
