Subject: 80's Food Faux Pas

Written By: Kris on 5/14/2001 at 11:17 p.m.

I don't know if this is a researched site or what. Looking for Dr. Demento song about RC cola and followed the trail here.

Food in the 80's that definitely were NOT the 80's are Jolly Rancher, Lemmon Head and Cheeze Whiz.

Jolly Rancher is old candy company in Colorado. Lemmon Head Boxes could be used for makeshift Kazoo's before they started glueing them. Cheese Whiz used to be used by Housewives to stuff celery at Thanksgiving long before it's microwave hey day made it a popular favorite.

All these things I remember from my childhood. I turned 20 in 1980 so their debut was before the 80's.

If anyone cares !!!

if you read the page carefully, at the top you'll notice we state that the foods listed aren't necessarily introduced during the 80s, just popular during the 80s....

yeah, There's surely foods that just had a second coming...or became like a trend in the 80s that were really around longer. those get lumped in with the 80s because of that.

Like I know pop rocks were out in the 70s ...but those things are sooo 80s to me.
Just look at them.
If they were cerial, I would eat them with Jolt cola rather than milk.

Ah, now you sound like a *real* 80s character - Calvin! (The reason he didn't eat his cereal with cola is that the bubbles got up his nose )
