Subject: 80's teen movies!

Written By: Mariana on 5/19/2001 at 8:31 p.m.

I'm not really that nostalgic of the 80s because I dont remember them that much, since I was born in 1980 and was a child throughout the decade and because I grew up in a small town in south america and most of the 80s things that i've heard talked here i didnt see much of.

Sorry but I really think that 80s fashion is the most hideous ever, but i must've been fun to wear such outrageous clothing and flashy acessoires!

But one thing of the 80's that was so much alive to me were the teenage movies, i LOVE them. I used to have many on tape, but they were all dubbed in portuguese, lol
I love(d) 16 Candles, Pretty in Pink, Just One of the Guys, the Breakfast Club, The Secret Admirer, The goonies, etc. etc. (Also Desperatly Seeking Susan, which is not a teen movie but I also had on tape and saw a million times.) When i was a kid i wanted to go to a high school like they went in those movies (that was part of the reason i managed to get myself sent to the US for high school). I hate teenage movies of the 90s, like American Pie and stuff. The only teen movies that i can watch are 80's movies. I guess that its because they were the original ones, I feel that most of these 90's and 2000's teen flicks are copies. Any tips of movies like those mentioned above that i might not have seen yet?!

>>>>>> Hey! Also check out FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH and VALLEY GIRL..two great teen movies from the 80s. But i do have to disagree with you when it comes to 80s fashions. They were awesome..especially the girls stuff. Fashion had gotten boring and less eye catching after the 80s ended. Grunge had a lot to do with the downfall of people caring how they dressed. Torn jeans and bad fitting shorts and flannel shirts?? Ugghh! Bring back dresses with fitted waistlines and pleats and gathers and bright colors and polka dots and colorful tights and fun shoes!!

Hey Mariana! Have you tried Girls Just Wanna Have Fun? It's got Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker and a pre-teen Shannon Doherty. That movie rocks! I've seen it about 100 times. If you've already seen it, then you know how amazing and fun it is!
