Subject: Favorite songs of 1981

Written By: james martin on 6/1/2001 at 10:01 p.m.

O.K. In honor of this Sunday's BTM, I want to ask what's your favorite songs of 1981: "Our Lips Are Sealed" The Go Go's, "The Night Owls" The Little River Band, "Cool Love" Pablo Cruise, "Cool Night" Paul Davis, "We're In This Love Together" & "Breaking Away" Al Jarreau, "Is It You" Lee Ritenour, "Turn Me Loose" Loverboy, "Elvira" Oak Ridge Boys, "Don't Let Him Know" Prism, "Kiss On My List", "You Make My Dreams(Come True), & "Private Eyes" Hall & Oates, "Celebration" Kool & The Gang, "Let's Groove" Earth, Wind & Fire "General Hospiti-Tale Afternoon Delights, "Games People Play" & "Time" Alan Parsons Project "Morning Train(9 to 5) Sheena Easton(Grammy Winner Best New Artist), "Best That You Can Do(Arthur's Theme)" Christopher Cross, "Ghost Riders In The Sky" Outlaws, "Guilty" & "What Kind Of Fool" Barbra Streisand & Barry Gibb(Only fair: "He's A Liar" & "Living Eyes" Bee Gees, "In The Air Tonight" & "I Missed Again" Phil Collins(Only fair again: "Abacab" Genesis. I'm just getting started. A long, long DIVERSE list isn't? It was 1981 & despite what other formats from country to jazz to r&b found those artists crossing over a SELLOUT, BULL. Do you wish that the music from that year take over again? Me personally, I wish but I don't think so because with the other formats(altenative, rap, teen acts & latin) is too strong they wouldn't drop the formats on radio now & add the ones I mentioned were magic. It's like one world came together. That's what DIVERSITY is supposed to be not a few certain types of music PDs & MDs plays & gets dull once in a while. Comments Anyone? Do think this is the only decade of the 80's that music was DIVERSE? Some people & critics think that music lost its way in'81. I don't think so & if it wasn't for American Top 40 & the dfferent types of music I was listening to 20yrs. ago or even in the '70's.
