Subject: Sampling In 1991!!

Written By: Wicked Lester on 6/3/2001 at 1:00 a.m.

I'm sitting here tonight relaxing, listening to the weekend 80s show on the radio when I hear what I think is Spandau Ballet's "True" coming on... only it isn't. It was a song by PM Dawn called "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss", which was released in 1991 (which makes me wonder what it's doing on a 80s show, but there it was between "Higher Love" and "All Through the Night"). Anyway, this may already be a well known sample by many of you, but I have previously heard only one song by PM Dawn, and that was on the Jimi Hendrix Tribute CD.

I actually had that cassette single..it was pretty popular, around here anyway. Did you also know that "Set Adrift On Memory Bliss", and therefore "True" was redone again by the Backstreet Boys a few years ago? My, "True" has certainly made it's way into history, hasn't it? LOL!
