Subject: 1987:Behind The Music Tomorrow!!!!!

Written By: james martin on 6/9/2001 at 1:49 p.m.

A reminder that tomorrow VH1 will profiled the year that U2 finally broked out with "The Jousha Tree", Aertha Franklin scored her first #1 hit on the pop chart in 20yrs. with "I Knew You Were Waiting For Me" with George Michael, hair bands expoded(Poison, Def Leppard, Europe, etc.) Miami music explosion(Expose', Miami Sound Machine, Donna Allen, Company B), Big comebacks of that year Greatful Dead, Aerosmith, & of course, Whitesnake was one of the biggest comebacks of that year. Dirty Dancing & La Bamba were big hits @ the box office as well as their hits. Remakes were big in '87. "You Keep Hangin' On", "Lean On Me" "I Think Were Along Now" & "Mony Mony" were all #1 hits. Guns & Roses(not my favorite group), were one of the biggest noises of that year. Debbie Gibson & Tiffany were making noises on the air(before Brittany & Christina). New acts like Crowded House, T'Pau, The Breakfast Club, Club Noveau, Cutting Crew, Richard Marx, Expose' were popular on the air. Sadly, their careers soon disappear within the next few years of the 80's & early 90's. But, the BIGGEST STORY of that year was Oct. 19, the year the market crashed & would be called BLACK MONDAY. The year of course was 1987. Should be interesting.
